\u00a0Be quiet, silent, don\u2019t give your opinion if you\u2019re asked for it \u2013 let silence, the origin of all things, show you the way.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;\">Since then, I occasionally think about his words. \u00a0It was the truth \u2013 but that wasn\u2019t the problem. \u00a0I admire those beings that sometimes can be mad and other times sane. \u00a0I pity those who have, as I do, a third state \u2013 a mixture of prudence and craziness, logic and fantasy, or, what amounts to the same thing, an ambivalent, contradictory phenomenon, a pitched battle between my daydreams and my rawest reality. \u00a0Or, as Clemente Freites (a lucky businessman who gave up everything to devote himself to the sea \u2013 and ended up a millionaire) used to say, \u201cLiving is a struggle between madness and dementia.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;\">The Cabala\u2019s prediction to people such as this was as follows: \u201cThere is an old saying that you are \u2018prophets in a foreign land\u2019, which means that you excel in guiding other people\u2019s activities, but are undependable when it comes to dealing with your own. \u00a0Hence, you can expect a reputation for the good you do to others, and another for the misfortune you cause yourselves. \u00a0There is one extremely important word in your lives, which can become your greatest asset, complementing what you already have, purging what is extraneous and substituting what you lack.
