{"id":122,"date":"2011-06-16T12:38:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-16T12:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lidaprypchan.org\/?p=122"},"modified":"2015-07-19T21:52:08","modified_gmt":"2015-07-19T21:52:08","slug":"the-prince-who-died-of-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lidaprypchan.org\/?p=122","title":{"rendered":"THE PRINCE WHO DIED OF LOVE"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><b style=\"font-size: x-large;\">By Lida Prypchan<\/b><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: large;\">He whom passion has never touched can never comprehend it. \u00a0 (Dante)<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: large;\">One should bid farewell to love when passion has died. \u00a0Passion is the driving force behind attraction, nearness and mutual sharing, and without it those special looks cannot be shared. \u00a0In general passionate relationships are rare, because so much emotion in a person\u2019s life can somehow eventually become disruptive. \u00a0This must be the reason why we find so many couples clinging to convention and a staid yet serene way of life.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Passion doesn\u2019t refer just to the emotional level, but to all other levels too \u2013 passion for art, passion for work. \u00a0This reminds me of the belief that a person disappointed in love will make up for it in work. \u00a0In this regard, we mustn\u2019t forget Freud\u2019s theory about Leonardo de Vinci, which claims that since Leonardo didn\u2019t give free rein to his sexuality, he accumulated an inner energy which he used to create his paintings and scientific inventions. \u00a0However, I am of the opinion that one works better when emotionally satisfied. \u00a0The reason for this is that everything is dependent upon a person\u2019s state of mind. \u00a0Solitude many times can be a friend, but one needs human companionship \u2013 to hold a conversation, to give of oneself, to caress and be caressed. \u00a0If this aspect of life is satisfied, there is an increase in vitality because of new desires \u2013 desires to produce desires to alleviate one\u2019s anxieties.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The above title, The Prince Who Died of Love, refers to the life of Prince Juan, the brother of Juana la Loca, or \u201cJoan the Mad,\u201d who married the Archduchess Margarita. \u00a0It happened during a period of conservatism. \u00a0When she arrived, the order had already been given by the prince\u2019s mother that they were not as much as to touch hands in greeting. \u00a0The prohibition was so effective that when they finally came together after their marriage, it was with such desire and persistence that doctors concluded the prince\u2019s health was endangered. \u00a0The only cure they could recommend was a temporary separation for the unrestrained couple. \u00a0Juan\u2019s mother disagreed, saying, \u201cMan should not separate what God has joined.\u201d \u00a0Worn out by the physical excesses of love, the prince died a few months later. \u00a0Of course this was not the cause of his death, since instinct is dulled from its own overindulgence before any harm can result.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: large;\">This incident left its mark on Don Fernando, his father, who always recommended moderation to newly married couples so they would not suffer the same fate as his son.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The life and death of Juan never became a legend because no one believes that an enthusiastically satisfied love can result in death.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: large;\">One should bid farewell to love when passion has died. \u00a0But one must also bid farewell when passion can lead to death \u2013 because there are passions that kill. \u00a0Be that as it may, all of this sheds light upon why the course of passion is so brief: because it leads to extremes.<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Lida Prypchan \u00a0 He whom passion has never touched can never comprehend it. \u00a0 (Dante) One should bid farewell to love when passion has died. \u00a0Passion is the driving force behind attraction, nearness and mutual sharing, and without it those special looks cannot be shared. \u00a0In general passionate relationships are rare, because so much &hellip;
